Bridal Muhurtham Jewellery Checklist
Muhurtham day comes with a long list of things to plan — and jewellery is one place brides don't want last-minute surprises. Here's a complete checklist.
The Essentials
- Bridal haram — the statement long necklace, usually temple or antique finish, worn over the pattu saree.
- Choker or short necklace — layered under or with the haram for a fuller neckline look.
- Jhumkas or chandbali earrings — heavier than daily wear, designed to balance the haram visually.
- Nethichutti (maang tikka) — a temple-style forehead piece, essential for the traditional bridal look.
- Vanki (armlet) — worn on the upper arm, a traditional South Indian bridal detail often skipped by mistake.
- Bangles — usually a mix of temple-finish and glass/lac bangles for the wrist stack.
- Waist belt (oddiyanam) — cinches the pattu saree and completes the silhouette.
- Nose ring/pin (mookuthi) — a small but important traditional detail.
Order of Priority If Budget Is Tight
If you need to prioritise, the haram, jhumkas, and nethichutti make the biggest visual impact in photos — start there, then add the vanki and oddiyanam if budget allows.
